You may have heard the term “Gospel” used by Christians before, and maybe it just sounds like another religious term. But the word literally means “good news.” The good news of the Gospel is that God wants to have a real, personal relationship with you! The Bible explains how that is possible.
The Bible tells us that even though you are flawed and broken, God loves you anyway.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16
“We love him, because he first loved us.” ~ 1 John 4:19
Sin simply means anything that displeases God. No one had to teach us to sin; we were all born with a sinful nature.
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” ~ Romans 3:10
“…all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” ~ Isaiah 64:6
As passionately as God loves you, He is still holy and just. He cannot allow sin, no matter how insignificant it may seem to us, to go unpunished. The price of our sin is to be separated from God forever. On our own, no good deeds or religious service can pay this price.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” ~ Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death…”
~ Romans 6:23a
The good news is that God doesn’t want us to pay the price of sin on our own! Jesus lived on earth 2,000 years ago as God in the flesh. He was the only person to ever live a sinless, perfect life; therefore, when He died on the cross, He was able to pay the price of sin for all mankind. Three days later, He was raised from the dead, proving God’s power over sin and death.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” ~ Romans 6:23
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” ~ Ephesians 2:8-9
“Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.”
~ Romans 6:9
Knowing these things are true is not enough. The Bible tells us that God wants you to call on Him and ask Him to save you. Call out to God and confess your sin, ask Him to come into your life, and accept His gift of new life!
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” ~ Romans 10:9
“…I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live” ~ John 11:25
“…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” ~ Acts 16:31
Understand that if you call on God to save you, it will change your life forever! But it will be the best decision you’ve ever made. If you want to make that decision today and enter into a relationship with Jesus, you can pray something like this prayer below to God. (The exact words of this specific prayer are not what saves you, and you can word the prayer on your own; but asking God in repentance and faith to forgive your sins will save you and give you a personal relationship with God.)
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that because of my sins, I deserve to be separated from you. I am sorry for all the wrong that I have ever done. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross and pay the price for my sins. Please forgive me, and take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you have any questions about this, please reach out to us! If you made this decision, and asked Jesus to save you from your sin, we would love to hear about it and talk to you about growing in your new relationship with God!
